Psychedelic Integration Therapy

Home Body Therapy offers Psychedelic Integration Therapy virtually to residents of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Colorado.

Psychedelic integration refers to the process of integrating the wisdom and insights gleaned from non-ordinary states of consciousness into daily life. In Psychedelic Integration Therapy, this process unfolds within the context of a therapeutic relationship, supported by a licensed mental health care provider.

Psychedelic Assisted Therapy vs. Psychedelic Integration Therapy

In Psychedelic Assisted Therapy, the medicine is administered by a prescriber with a therapist present before, during and after the psychedelic experience. In the United States, this generally refers to either Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, which is currently the only fully legal option, or therapy taking place in clinical trials using MDMA or Psilocybin.

Psychedelic Integration Therapy may occur in between sessions of Psychedelic Assisted Therapy, or it may occur independently with clients who are seeking out their own psychedelic experiences. While there are benefits to working with psychedelics under the guidance of healthcare professionals, I recognize that many people are working with various plant medicines and synthetic compounds on their own. I respect everyone’s individual path and am honored to support those working with psychedelics in integrating their experiences to achieve meaningful, lasting change.

Preparation & Integration

It may seem counterintuitive, but the integration process actually begins before your experience with a psychedelic medicine. Once you have consciously decided to work with a particular medicine, you are actively engaging in the process. It is recommended, therefore, that you pay just a close attention to the period of time leading up to the psychedelic experience, also known as preparation. Ideally we will start integration therapy before your psychedelic experience, which will greatly enhance your integration process afterwards.

Confidentiality

Everything discussed in a psychedelic integration therapy session is protected as confidential healthcare information under the HIPAA Privacy Rule. From the moment you reach out, this is considered privileged healthcare information. The only exceptions to this are the same as with any psychotherapy or medical appointment: if you pose a danger to yourself or others; in the case of child abuse or neglect; or if you authorize disclosure of information for some reason (such as to coordinate care with another provider or if you are submitting for reimbursement to an insurance company).

What Integration Therapy Isn’t

I do not, under any circumstance, direct you as to which psychedelic medicines to work with or where to obtain them. If I have concerns about your usage, I will address this with you within my scope of practice as a healthcare provider.

Because my style of integration therapy is briefer in nature, we are less likely to turn over every stone in your history. While we will stay open and receptive to whatever comes up in our work together, we will generally focus more on enacting change in your life based on the messages and insights arising from your psychedelic experiences.

Are you ready to come home to yourself?
